We got loaded up on Saturday, and Lily and Baby Kate were all smiles.
The drive up is beautiful and very scenic.
We arrived at our hotel in the early afternoon and got checked in. We were staying at the Sipapu Lodge, which is about a half an hour outside of Taos.
Once we got checked in, we unwound from the drive in our room for a bit, then spent a little time "hiking." I use that term very loosely. After working up an appetite, we headed over to the main lodge building to get some dinner at their outdoor bar and grill. Lily told the waitress she wanted, "A hot dog. With ketchup. No onions. I no like onions. Ketchup." Despite not liking onions, she was happy to pose with one from my burger. Anything in the name of modeling.
After dinner, Lily wanted to "run around in the grass," so we walked across a little stone bridge from the grill to the outdoor area.
Once we got to the other side, we played a lot of chase. Lily loves to shout, "You better run! I'm gonna get you!"
After running around for a long while, we climbed down to the little creek that runs between the lodge and the open space.
Then we spent a long time throwing rocks into the water.
Then it was time to hang out on the bridge some more.
After all that running and throwing, Lily needed "a little snack," so went into the gift shop and bought some homemade fudge, then found a nice porch swing to eat it on.
By then it was time to head back to our room to wind down before bedtime. Stay tuned for our Day 2 adventures.
She looks so much more grown up in those pictures. And adorable, of course.
ReplyDeletewhat I learned from this post: It's far easier to throw rocks if you stick your tougue out when you do so!

ReplyDeleteIs it just the way the photos make here look or is Lily turning into a little girl? She really looks like she is growing up fast. Too fast.
